Gutter cleaning in Cork, Kerry and Limerick

A blocked gutter does its damage quietly. Water spills over the front, runs down the wall and soaks into the fascia, the soffit and the brickwork behind it. We clear the gutters by hand, flush every downpipe, check the joints and brackets while we are up there, and send you photos of the gutters before and after.

Also called gutter clearing, gutter and downpipe cleaning, or clearing out the eaves.

From €120 for most houses. Want a quick price? Ring 085 220 1422, or send a photo of the front and back of the house to WhatsApp.

Warning signs

Signs your gutters need clearing

Water pouring over the front of the gutter in heavy rain instead of going down the pipe

Green or black streaks down the wall under the gutter line

Grass, moss or small plants growing out of the gutter

A gutter that sags or has pulled away from the fascia under the weight of wet debris

Damp patches on an inside wall or on the soffit boards under the eaves

Water pooling at the foot of a downpipe, or a downpipe that gurgles and backs up

Most houses need the gutters cleared once a year. If you have trees near the house, or moss on the roof, plan on twice a year, with one clean after the leaves come down in late autumn.

What you get

What a gutter clean includes

Leaves, moss, silt and anything else lifted out of every gutter run by hand, front and back

Outlets cleared and each downpipe flushed with water, then rodded if it is still blocked

Joints, brackets and falls checked while we are up there, so you know of any drip or sag before it does damage

Moss that has washed down from the roof cleared out of valleys and the back of the gutter

All waste bagged and taken away, with the ground below left clean

Before and after photos sent to you, so you can see the job without climbing a ladder

If we find a leaking joint, a cracked section or a gutter that has lost its fall, we show you the photo and price the repair. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Before you decide

Why a blocked gutter costs more than the clean

Irish rain is not the problem on its own. The problem is where it goes when the gutter is full. Water that spills over the front lands on the wall and soaks in. Water that backs up behind the gutter runs down the back of the fascia board, and over a few winters the timber rots and the gutter brackets lose their grip.

On houses with concrete tiles, a lot of what blocks the gutter is moss washed down off the roof. Clearing the gutter fixes the overflow, but the moss keeps coming. If the roof is heavily mossed, it is worth looking at roof cleaning and coating at the same time, while the access is already set up.

If the gutters themselves are old, cracked or leaking at the joints, cleaning will not save them. In that case we will say so straight, and you can see what replacement involves on our gutter, fascia and soffit page.

Questions

Gutter cleaning questions we get asked

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year for most houses. Twice a year if there are trees close by or moss on the roof, with one of those cleans in late autumn once the leaves are down.

Do you clean the downpipes as well?

Yes. Every downpipe is flushed with water once the gutter is clear. If one is still blocked, we rod it or take off the lower section to clear it.

Do I need to be at home?

No, as long as we can get to the back of the house. Many customers are at work while we do it, and we send the before and after photos when we finish.

Can you clean gutters on a two or three storey house?

Yes. Higher houses take longer and may need a tower or other access equipment, which we include in the price we give you before we start.

Can you repair the gutters if something is wrong?

Yes. We reseal leaking joints, refix sagging brackets, and replace broken sections or whole gutter runs, along with the fascia and soffit if they have rotted. We price any repair separately and only do it if you agree.

How much does gutter cleaning cost?

Gutter cleaning starts from €120 for a bungalow or a typical semi-detached house, and most houses come in between €120 and €250. The price depends on the length of gutter, the height of the house and how easy it is to reach the back. Send a photo of the front and back of the house and we will give you a fixed price before we come. It costs less done alongside other roof work, when access is already in place.
